Electrum Ink® was founded by artists Rob Smead and Christian Moore in 2021.  The startup was funded entirely by the success of the parent company Electrum Supply that was formed in 2012 by Rob and Andi Smead, while Rob was still a working tattoo artist. Electrum Ink had been an idea for many years prior to launch.

 

Both Rob and Christian wanted to create a superior tattoo ink that would perform better than the inks they were familiar with, as well as form a company that was more artist centric and just fun feeling.  As the industry has evolved and transitioned through different phases and ownership, they both felt that the artists were becoming less important and that products were starting to decline in quality as companies became more focused on bottom line performance.

 

There are still many great ink companies out there, and while we haven't solved all of the riddles, our primary objective each and every day is to continue to raise the bar and make inks that outperform and outlast the status quo.

 

Our tagline is "Disrupt Everything" because that's exactly what we want to do to keep things fresh and invigorating.  At Electrum, we feel like it is our duty to always set the bar high to encourage other manufacturers to create better performing products.  It's all about evolution and continuous improvement.

 

Christian parted ways with Electrum Ink in early 2023 to pursue other ventures.  Today the company has its headquarters in Goshen Indiana and is operated daily with Rob serving as President.

 

We are proud to say that we have many artists all over the world now using and loving our pigments. You can expect a lot of great things in the future of Electrum Ink, including a lot more colors added to our pallet regularly!
